Well Happy New Year to all of our Brides to Be and especially all of you were lucky enough to get proposed to over the Festive period! It’s time for a quick roundup of all things wedding that’s been going on at the Moonrise Wedding Blog over the past week or so. You may have noticed the slight facelift it’s had recently, we hope you like?

moonrise_wedding_blog

Anyway, we thought it would be appropriate as there were so many proposals over the holidays to kick our wedding blog off in 2016 by looking at wedding planning. So we took a trial of WeddingTour by Gabriella Wood. A FREE online wedding planning tool that helps monitor your budget, guest list and much more.

Online wedding planning tool

See how we got on in our post – ‘Wedding Planning – Where do You Start?‘ Why not log on and see for yourself, there’s no commitment and it’s true to its word, it’s FREE.

We then had the pleasure of introducing a very talented Musician – Georgina Heydon. With over 15 years experience in teaching and performing music, Georgina plays the piano & cello as well as singing to provide beautiful wedding music for your wedding day!

Wedding Music for Weddings

Find out more about Georgina and hear some of her song snippets before considering your Wedding Music for Your Wedding Day.

Take a look at Kadie & Nic’s Wedding Day! Our first Real Brides Feature of 2016. A beautifully relaxed wedding day, with a garden ceremony and the reception at Wold Top Brewery.

kadie_7

Be inspired by their beautifully delicate peach & mint colour theme and join us in wishing them all the very best for the future in their long and happy marriage. Join Kadie & Nic as they share their very special Wedding Day with us!

Finally we rounded of the week, with a quick look at; probably not the most romantic side but rather more practical aspect of bridal lingerie, shapewear to go beneath your wedding dress.

Wedding_shapewear_to_go_beneath_wedding_dress

We looked at the difference between wedding shapewear and bridal lingerie such as corsets and bustiers as well as what to consider when choosing which style of wedding shapewear to go beneath your wedding dress. – ‘Wedding Shapewear to go Beneath Your Bridal Gown‘.

That’s it for this week, we hope your wedding planning is going well and you find our wedding posts and features inspiring.

We’ve been a little bit busy over the past few weeks here at Moonrise Lingerie, we’ve still been talking about all things wedding and wonderful whilst at the same time starting our little Christmas campaign off on our sister site – Moonrise at Midnight. (Click here if you want a cheeky look to see our latest addition). So let’s see what’s been going on at Moonrise Bridal over the past few weeks.

Ivory_Lingerie_Collage

The Essme Ivory Push Up Bra set was one of our latest additions for this wedding season, with gorgeous deep suspender belt and matching brief to complete the look. Click here to find out more – Ivory Bridal Lingerie for Ivory Weddings

It’s been a while since our wedding blog revival, so we thought we’d do something a little bit fun and different, and hopefully help our ‘Brides to Be’ in their own wedding planning. So we’ve put together a quick little A-Z of Weddings of some of our favourite wedding suppliers, couples and posts that we’ve done over the last few months!

Q – Quality Time for Each Other.

This is the one consistent piece of advice we get from our guest suppliers as well as from Real Brides from their Wedding Day features is, ‘Make sure you take a bit of time out on your wedding day to spend by yourselves and just take it all in, as it goes by too quick!’.

U – Underwear for Beneath the Wedding Dress

V – Venue Dressing by ‘Rent a Wedding’

Weddings can be quite costly and easily spiral out of control. One area to possibly make a little saving is in your venue decorations or dressings, instead of buying all of your centre pieces and other decor, maybe consider renting them. This is where ‘Rent a Wedding’ is able to help!

W – Wedding Dresses by ‘Discount Wedding Dresses’

We hear of many stories of Brides trying to save money on their wedding dress, with varying degrees of success and some ending in complete disaster! Avoid this completely. We introduced a fresh new local dress business ‘Discount Wedding Dresses Bristol‘ who offer quality wedding gowns at affordable prices without the risk!

X – Xtra Time to get dressed

Try and allow some extra time when getting ready on the morning of your Wedding, just in case of any unexpected hiccups, like missing buttons, zips breaking or laddered tights! Maybe consider asking your wedding dress fitter to help on the morning of the wedding?

Y – Young Attendants

A lot of weddings have Young Attendants, Pageboys, Flowers Girls and Ring Bearers etc. It can be quite a long day for them, so make an effort to provide things to keep them occupied at certain phases of the day. We added bubbles, toy favours and the balloon release in the evening got them all running around again!

Z – Zero Regrets

When we ask Real Brides, and suppliers, for any advice to give to Brides to Be for their wedding day, they quite often say, “It’s your day, don’t stress about little things and take it all in because it goes by so fast!” We all get that planning a wedding can be very stressful and that you want everything to be just right, but don’t forget to enjoy it all and have fun, and make it through the whole journey with no regrets!

Congratulations to Bev & James!

This week we start our little wedding blog off with a touch of hair and make-up for the Bride on her Big Day. I constantly see posts from Brides to Be showing off their hair trials and differnet styles of make-up before their wedding, so let’s here from Chloe Evans, who has made a living out of doing just that!

Q: Tell us a little bit more about ChloeEvansMakeup, why you started and how long you’ve been going.

I have always loved makeup and how it can transform how someone feels about themselves. For years I enjoyed doing makeup for friends and family, and would spend hours watching some of the best makeup artist  on Youtube (Sharon Farrell, Wayne Goss, NikkieTutorials, Joseph Harwood). I decided 3 years ago to enrol on a professional accredited course at my local College and gained distinction level grades in all areas. I got my insurance and registration, built my kit up and started working as a freelance makeup artist. Last year I teamed up with Charlotte Hough of Hair Fantasy – we met at an event where we were both working, and got on great. We decided to team up as we feel that generally, if you book one person for bridal hair and makeup, the chances are that they’re going to be better at one or the other, but not excellent at both. If you book us as a team, you get two experts at really competitive prices who you know work well together.

bridal_hair_and_makeup

Q: What advice, hints or tips do you have for our Brides to Be, when it comes to looking for make up & hair for their wedding day?

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so choose a professional that you know you can rely on! I have had so many brides contacting me last minute because they’ve been let down by their makeup artist. All our brides get a contract and booking form. Checking that your makeup artist and hair stylist is qualified, insured and registered will give you some idea of their professionalism and therefore their reliability. Ask them what products they use – are they high quality and do they use different products for different skin / hair types for example? You want your hair and makeup to look as good at the end of the day as it did when you got ready.

bridal_hair_by_Chloe_Evans_MUA

Q: What makes ChloeEvansMakeup stand out from the crowd and what can Brides expect from you for their hair & makeup?

I think my experience and the fact that my qualification is specifically in photographic makeup – you want your makeup to look great on your wedding photos as well as in person. Charlotte is incredibly experienced and talented, and has a fantastic pre-wedding consultation routine with the bride to ensure they get the style they want. You can expect to have peace of mind when you book with us, as well as a friendly professional service.

Chloe_Evans_Bridal_Hair_Make_Up_Artist

Q: How long in advance would you recommend Brides start looking at their hair & makeup for their wedding day & what is a sensible budget?

Thinking about hair and makeup should be as important as thinking about the dress! Start looking around for makeup artists and hair stylists early. We often have weddings booked in a year in advance – so book early to avoid disappointment. In terms of budgetting – most makeup artists and hair stylists list their prices on their websites, so you can get an idea with a bit of research. Charlotte and I have done this research and have come up with hair and makeup packages that are below average in terms of pricing. I also wrote a blog about the cost of bridal makeup – my blog and all our prices can be found on my website - http://www.chloeevansmakeup.com

wedding_day_make_up_chloe_evans

Q: What’s your biggest achievement to date? (Doesn’t have to be wedding related).

My biggest achievement has been being awarded distinction level grades in all areas of makeup styling (bridal, beauty and avant garde), as well as developing the business side of my makeup work, such as building my website myself and creating my “brand”. I have also had a number of proud moments where my work has made a particular impact on the way a person feels about themselves, and that’s always going to be the most rewarding part of my job.

Bridal_make_up_Chloe_Evans

Q: What does the future hold for ChloeEvansMakeup?

I would one day love to open a makeup studio where people can come to either have their makeup done, or learn how to do it themselves.

brides_hair_ideas_for_wedding_day_Chloe_Evans

Some really sound advice from Chloe when it comes to arranging your hair stylist and make up artist for your wedding morning, that I’m sure will help avoid any disappointment at the last minute. It’s been a little over a year ago or so since we first introduced Bridal Eyewear on our wedding blog at Moonrise Bridal. So we thought it high time we got back in touch to see what they’d been up to and remind all of our Brides to Be, just what it is they specialise in!

 bridal_eyewear_logo

Q: It’s been a while since we introduced Bridal Eyewear. Can you remind everyone what it is you do?

Bridal Eyewear by Karen Louise is eyewear for special occasions.

glasses_for_bride_and_groom

We can match your glasses to your wedding dress, colour theme of the day, head dress or jewellery. We take the time to match your eyewear like an accessory and as I am a qualified dispensing optician I can also advise on the right lenses for your prescription. We are independent opticians so we can also do full sight examinations and contact lenses.

brides_glasses

Q: What have you been up to over the last year? We’ve noticed you in the press a few times.

The last year has been amazing we have opened two more practices with Yorkshire Eyewear in Howden and Knaresborough. I have been the business women of the month, in Goole and Howden, nominated in the Mumpreneur top 100, appeared in our professional magazine Dispensing Optics and nominated for two national award – we will find out at a dinner at the NEC in November if we are winners! Our last photo shoot was working with Eleda Hats to match hats & glasses not just for weddings but for race days, we also match the eyewear to prom and evening dresses.

Q: What advice can you give to our brides when it comes to choosing glasses for their wedding day?

Avoid transitions lenses, they are fantastic for your honeymoon but you don’t want to look like you are wearing sunglasses for your outside wedding photographs. A must is to have a good quality anti-reflection coating like Nikon or Essilor to avoid reflections on your lenses.

Look at your eyewear as an accessory – it’s the overall look so think about your jewellery, if you are wearing silver or gold or do you want a colour to match your flowers. A dispensing opticians will be able to advise on the best lens for your prescription – you want to have the thinnest lens available for the best cosmetic look. Remember you will be looking at your photos for years to come and most of the images will be close ups of your face, you can wear your glasses again after your big day. So the investment isn’t just for your wedding.

Q: What’s your biggest achievement to date? (Doesn’t have to be wedding related).

Going over to Manchester to meet Amanda Wyatt the wedding dress designer to dispense the perfect pair of glasses for her daughters wedding Charlotte Balbier. Unrelated to weddings must be designing and fitting our new practices I even recycled and up cycled most of our furniture.

Q: How do you help brides or indeed grooms when they come to you looking for frames for the big day?

I always look at the prescription first to decide on a suitable frame whether rimless, supra or full rimmed. If a prescription is too high then it doesn’t always work in a rimless frame. I then talk to the bride or groom on wedding ideas and colour themes. I also ask them to bring in a colour Swatch or head dress or jewellery that they would like to co-ordinate with. The frame has to fit correctly, feel right and look right.

Q: What does the future hold for Bridal Eyewear?

I am looking at spending the Autumn and Winter months attending Wedding Fayres especially across the Harrogate and Knaresborough area where we have our latest practice and trade fairs to see the latest trends. I have taken on Arbonne to give brides the complete look of make-up and glasses.
