Navy Blue Weddings

Navy Blue Wedding Moodboard

The 2017 wedding season is gathering pace so it’s time to start refreshing our mood boards and putting some new wedding ideas together. I’ve never considered navy blue as a run of the mill wedding colour, it’s a very strong and bold natural colour, although used sparingly can be beautifully effective.

WeddingCake_Cake Central

It’s really very versatile in the colours it will compliment be it peach, grey, silver or even blush pink. Of course most of all, with it being such a striking colour it contrasts wonderfully with whites, creams and champagne colours of the brides wedding dress.

Bridesmaids_Modern Wedding

You can also create some beautiful and stylish effects by using nave blue laces on your tables, wedding invitations or even wedding cake without the richness of the blue becoming overpowering. Navy blue organza sashes are very nice addition to chair covers as well.

There’s plenty of naturally blue flowers that you can choose to suit a navy blue wedding theme, which can also be contrasted with in your bouquets or button holes. You can also go a little bit different with Navy Blue for the Groom and Best Man if you feel so inclined. As earlier suggested it’s a great contrasting colour with peaches, pink or even mint greens so as to not to become completely overtaken by blue, unless that’s what you want.

Invite_Etsy

That’s the beauty of creating your own moodboard for your wedding planning, you can visualise much better how things will look and feel before seeing it all together on the big day. They’re also really useful to show various suppliers when you’re at the planning stage or going round wedding shows, you never know they might have suggestions you’ve never thought of!

The wedding season is getting into full swing with everyone’s Spring Wedding blossoming just around the corner. I thought we’d take a look at an Autumn or Fall coloured moodboard for those Brides still planning their Weddings later in the year.

Editor’s Favourites

Burgandy or cranberry is a lovely Autumnal colour for a wedding, suggesting a feeling of warmth and calm. Although a very powerful colour with many shades to choose it can be used very effectively to contrast with many lighter colours associated with weddings such as off whites, creams and ivory’s.

wedding-john

Used carefully it can be complemented very nicely with deep purples and even a hot pink. As it’s a very rich colour it can be overpowering if used too much, rather like a Cadbury purple if it’s overused.

open_back_bridesmaid_dress

I picked this open back bridesmaids dress, although it’s not strictly burgundy I thought the detailing was beautiful! Burgundy is very easy to bring into the Groom’s attire by adding to their buttonhole, tie, handkerchief or waistcoat. Floral arrangements can easily be broken up or complimented with light pinks, olive greens and silver.

Wedding_cake

Bridesmaids dresses can be completely burgundy or a lighter colour with a burgundy or cranberry sash/ belt with shoes to match.

burgandy_centrepiece

One of my favourites is the multitude of options you have when it comes to centre pieces and table/ venue decoration, which is why I picked the glass with a single floating candle along with cranberries resting on a thin tree cut. Very effective and relatively inexpensive to achieve a great look!

Happy New Year to everyone and a huge congratulations to all the couples who got engaged over the Festive period. Our newsfeed is full of Brides to Be showing off their new engagement rings, pictures of diaries showing ‘Getting Married Today’ on new Wedding Dates that have been set and plenty of ‘I’m planning my wedding and I don’t know where to start!’ Sound familiar?

So to start the New Year off on our wedding blog I thought we’d start off with wedding planning and take a closer look at WeddingTour.co.uk an online wedding planning tool that’s free to use. Yes you read correctly FREE! (Not much is free when it comes to weddings!).

I popped onto their website at http://www.weddingtour.co.uk and created an account, fairly straight forward, names and a few details like wedding date and anticipated budget, no payment details or credit cards or anything like that, because it’s true to it’s word, it’s FREE.

Start Wedding Planning

Wedding_planner_1

To begin with you’re presented with a pretty decent overview of your wedding planning to include your guest, budget and table planner summaries. Of course not forgetting the all important countdown to the Special Day itself at the very top! I remember from our wedding planning experience we used a couple of spreadsheets from a well known spreadsheet program, however had I known about this, I think it would have been much simpler to use and easier to see where you are and what needs doing at a glance.

Wedding Guest List

guest_planner

Looking into a bit more detail of the guestlist, which is probably one of the first sources of family controversy, who do you invite to the whole day, who do you invite to just the reception and who misses out! It’s your day, so there’s a big hint of who decides! If you’re not careful the guest list gets out of control quite easily. It’s very good for managing your RSVP’s as well and keeping a close eye on how many children have been invited, as they need to be catered for, childs meals, soft drinks and something to keep them occupied through the speeches.

Wedding To-Do Checklist

To_Do_Checklist

When you start your wedding planning it can be extremely daunting when you start listing all the things you need to organise and buy. Wedding Tour provides you with a ready made checklist for your day, with suggested timescales of when certain tasks should be done by as well as who is responsible for them. Although no generic wedding list is going to be perfect for everyones Wedding Day, this one is quite comprehensive and you’re able to edit it as well.

Wedding Suppliers

wedding_supplier_directory

As you start working your way through your to-do list and visiting various wedding shows you’ll invariably meet a whole host of wedding suppliers and WeddingTour has a great supplier directory which, when you’ve added your suppliers to it, will be specific for you. A single place to keep all supplier details, along with notes, prices and contact information, accessible by both you and your partner, if you’re both using it together that is!

Wedding Moodboards

wedding_moodboard

If you haven’t already started making moodboards by cutting things out of endless wedding magazines or using Pinterest, then you can always kick one off here. Just upload your pictures and add the odd comments to them. A wedding moodboard is really useful for some suppliers like your Florist or Venue Dresser as you can easily show them what you want. As WeddingTour is mobile and tablet friendly, it’s easy to show your ideas whilst on the go! Don’t put a picture of your dress on there though, it could really spoil the surprise!

Wedding Day Schedule

Wedding_Day_schedule

I think most Brides stress about the actual Wedding Day itself and when you think of all the time and effort that’s gone into the planning and all of the money that’s been spent it’s easy to understand. However, WeddingTour provides a huge checklist for the Wedding Day along with who’s responsible for that part of the day as well. Now I’m by no way suggesting you run around on your wedding day with your mobile reminding you of every task and waving it around like a Sergeant Major, but listing how the day will unfold will help you organise all of the relevant parties and let’s them see where they fit into Your Wedding Machine!

All in all it’s a great starting point when beginning to plan your Wedding, with pre-made comprehensive to-do lists, a supplier directory waiting to be filled, budget control allowing you to see where your spend is going and really useful moodboard section to help suppliers see your vision. So if you’ve been proposed to over the Festive period and you’re horrified at the prospect of planning your Perfect Wedding Day, why not pop onto http://www.weddingtour.co.uk and give yourself a headstart?

Peach or blush has been quite a popular choice for wedding colours this season, they’re subtle and quite versatile when matching with other colours throughout your wedding theme, such as greys, mint greens and even dark navy blues.

Peach_mint_wedding_moodboard_600

Having such a subtle and soft colour as peach it rests beautifully against a light grey or even dark navy blue, as a buttonhole, for example.

Blush_Buttonhole_on_Grey

Creams, mints, greys and ivory all go well with peach. This gives your florist plenty of freedom of expression when it comes to your floral displays.

mint_and_peach_floral_bouquets

Peach against mint isn’t the most obvious of combinations but it really does seem to work well.

And it’s a colour theme that can run seemlessly throughout your wedding venue.

Peach_place_setting

It’s a colour theme thatyou can experiment with and have a lot of fun while planning your perfect wedding day.

Peach & Mint Save the Date Board

Almost every wedding day has a theme or a colour scheme that runs through everything from the invites, the table decorations, the brides bouquet, and so on. Compiling your own mood board of all the ‘good ideas’ that you stumble across is a great starting point when it comes to planning your own wedding day, not only to build that picture in your own mind of how you want your day to look but also to show suppliers, friends and family who are there to help you plan your big day!

Cadbury_purple_mood_board

Bridesmaids dresses are a really significant part of your bridal parties attire and it can be quite a challenge to keep everyone happy in this department especially if you have 3, 4, or even 8 bridesmaids!

Irenee Bridal_4

Cadbury purple can be quite an over powering colour when there is a lot of the same of it together, but it also helps it contrast well with lighter colours often associated with your wedding day, such as whites, ivories, pinks and greys. A bridal bouquet is nice touch for you to keep the cadbury purple theme alongside your wedding gown.

Table decorations are where you can really go to town, if you’re wanting lots of purple, or you can choose to be more subtle with a some scatter crytals to compliment your place names maybe?

IMG_3279

Whichever route you decide, lots of deep and rich cadbury purple or more subtle smatterings it’s a beautiful colour and theme for a wedding day.
