We love reading about Real Brides Weddings on our blog and today I’d like to congratulate Bev and James on their recent wedding. Find out a little bit about how they met and how they both got on planning their magical day!

Q: Tell us about the proposal or tell us a little bit about how you met.

James and I have been together just over 5 years now. We met in our local pub called ‘The Bull’ Braintree in Essex, I never would of thought I would have met the man of my dreams in there lol!!

We were friends for a long time before we actually got together. We got to know each other which was lovely. In my head I was thinking why can’t I just meet someone like him, not knowing he actually liked me in that way too :) Happy days. He finally asked me out. I waited for him to ask being the old fashioned girl I am lol and 2 years later he proposed on our holiday in Mexico.

Q: When & where did you get married?

We got married at Parklands Quendon Hall in Essex on Tuesday 21st July 2015 stunning venue and amazing staff!!

Q: What style of dress did you choose & why? Where did you get it from?

My dress was by Justin Alexander and I found it in the ‘confetti & lace’ shop in Lakeside I highly recommend this bridal shop. I always wanted a fitted dress but I tried so many on I got a bit lost knowing if I was supposed to know ‘The one’. The lady in the shop actually chose my dress, which I’m very thankful for as it was beautiful :)

Q: What colour/ theme did you choose for your wedding day?

We went for ivory and watermelon for our theme colours, bright and happy.

Q: What did you decide upon for your reception?

The wedding and reception was all in the same venue which helped everything really flow. We had a few themes for our wedding ‘fun fair’ and ‘sparkle’ combining both of our personalities and jobs. We wanted everywhere to look bright with colours in the flowers and create a happy atmosphere for adults and children. So long story coming up lol… When James’ Dad was a young boy the circus came to town and he ran away with it lol, he grew up living the life. So now knowing all the industry him and James have their own company called Event Management, they go all over the country and promote fun fairs/circus/concerts. So we were lucky enough to have a set of Gallopers (merry go round) at our wedding. This looked beautiful outside the house and the kids & adults were in their element. We also had a circus lorry and ring boys from ‘Fantasia’ circus helping guests on an off the merry go round which was a lovely touch. I’m a dancer so I asked James if he would do a fun dance and to my surprise he agreed, I was very shocked!! After our first slow dance James & I, alongside all of my dancing friends from Hiphoppop dance company in Harlow Essex busted out a choreographed dance routine (which went crazy online going viral!) Catch it on you tube under ‘Bev & James wedding dance’ :) It went down a storm everyone was surprised and having a good laugh just what we wanted!

Q: Do you have any hints or tips that you would pass on to brides that are planning their own wedding? (anything that you wouldn’t bother doing if you had to do it again, or anything that you definitely would recommend doing).

I love detail and I did go in to a lot of detail on things on our wedding day, James said, “Don’t worry, no one will notice.”, typical man lol,  But he was surprised how many people did notice things, especially our baskets in the men’s & ladies toilets full of everything you need that you can’t bring with you to freshen up, it went down a treat.  A little sign for our loved ones that couldn’t be there with us saying “Because someone we love is in heaven there’s a little bit of heaven at our wedding” little touches :)

Q: What was your most favourite part of the day?

I didn’t have just one favourite part of the day I loved every moment. The artful dodger surprised all of our guests doing a DJ set in the evening, which was amazing.

Q: What advice would you pass on to brides for their actual wedding day itself?

If I could do it all again I wouldn’t change anything. It was just perfect for us. Do what makes you both happy, have what you want, it’s your day, your ideas. Don’t worry on the day, everything will all come together, just sit back and take every moment in because it goes so fast. If you can get a videographer, go for it, and keep re living your precious day.

Wow! What an amazing day. All that’s left to say from all of us at Moonrise we wish you both the very best of wishes for the future and a long and happy marriage! Congratulations!
