“I’m pleased to bring you a guest post with a difference from Karen Louise, who specialise in bridal eyewear. I bet not many brides or grooms take a minute to think about their glasses on their wedding day or special occasions. After reading this post from Karen, hopefully it’ll give you some great inspiration and thought when it comes to your glasses and spectacles for your wedding day, whether you’re the bride, groom or part of the bridal party itself!”

bridal eyewear & glasses for the wedding day

Bridal Eyewear by Karen Louise is the original spectacle outlet for weddings & special occasions. As a qualified dispensing optician we don’t just advise on the frames but can give professional  & expert opinions on prescriptions, with over 20 years experience in the optical industry. We have hand picked  frames that are suitable not just for brides, but the mother of the brides, bridesmaids, the groom, father of the bride, ushers & the whole wedding party. Proms, race days or any special occasion.

“We see our glasses as face jewellery.”

We take the time to match your glasses to your outfit. Glasses can change your whole look. We look at your tiara, jewellery, dress & colour theme for the day.

Your glasses become an accessory & you can wear them again & again after the event.

I was inspired by a dilemma I had. I have worn glasses & contact lenses since I was 17. Going to a black tie dinner in London I contacted UVitis and couldn’t wear my contact lenses. I have many pairs of spectacles from geeky, trendy & colourful but none  looked right with my dress & the image I wanted. If I was struggling & working in optics how do others go on?

My sister got married a few months later & going around the wedding fairs I noticed there wasn’t anything for spectacle wearing brides. Hence I decided to set up Bridal Eyewear.

Top tip

Don’t look at your glasses as just functional. They become part of you. Your face can change & personalities can be determined by your glasses. One pair doesn’t always go with all your outfits and some days you don’t always feel loud & vibrant, some days you like to feel chilled & quiet. Often your clothes reflect you and your moods. Glasses are no different.

Cost is often a factor with this grudge purchase for many people. But if you didn’t wear a visual correction how would you live your life? The first thing you put on in the morning and the last thing you take off at night. You normally get your eyes tested every 2 years. So I would say 730 days constant wear is good value.

Glaases & Spectacles for brides on their wedding day

I’ve heard of many brides that have walked down the isle without any correction because their everyday  glasses didn’t look right with the image they wanted, so they spent most of the day in a blur. Why would you want to miss the precious details of one of the most important days of your life?

Your every day glasses may be comfortable but so are your slippers. Would you wear them with your wedding dress?

I most enjoy transforming people, not just in looks but also confidence. Helping people feel better about themselves. Spectacles become part of you. The right pair compliment you & your outfit.

Wearing the wrong pair, no matter what you wear will always look wrong. It’s so important to get the right advice on your frames with your prescription and for size and comfort on your face.

I have lots of different frames and have no particular favourite (although I have a selections of GUESS, William Morris & Flair. Red, black, pink & rimless).

It depends on what I am wearing.

The advantage of special spectacles for your special day is you can wear them again & again after your big day.
