Romantic Photos on Valentines Day – Viktoria Kuti

Today I’d like to introduce to a very good friend of ours here at Moonrise Lingerie, Bristol based boudoir photgrapher, Viktoria Kuti. You may well have remembered we worked together on a project just over a year ago with some of our bridal lingerie at Berwick Lodge and we fell in love with her work. With Valentine’s Day fast appoaching we thought it apt to preview some of her latest romantic boudoir photo sessions and ask her more about what’s involved. Here’s what Viktoria had to tell us;

boudoir photos Bristol

Tell us a little bit about yourself Viktoria. What made you specialise in portrait styles of photography?

I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a photographer, and I definitely didn’t have any idea that I would become a portrait photographer. I am fascinated by the human form and also watching people go through transformation… and that is what my photoshoots are. When people walk into my studio, they usually still have their guard up. They are very self conscious and maybe even a little nervous. But slowly, they let me through, they connect with me, and I love seeing them unfold in front of the camera and seeing their light shine out.

What’s your background in photography? What’s been YOUR most exciting photo shoot?

I haven’t received any formal photography education, but was always interested in arts. My passion and journey with photography started about ten years ago – I am grabbing every opportunity I get since to better my skills and master this beautiful craft as much as possible. My most exciting shoot was probably the ballerina I photographed at dawn in Paris (https://prints.viktoriakuti.com/paris/) – it was a challenge because it was fully organised from the UK and wasn’t quite sure how all my plans would turn out, but I am (and my lovely model is too) very happy with the images we created.

A photo shoot sounds like a great idea for an original Valentines gift for your loved one, but what’s involved?

romantic photo valentines day

After booking a photoshoot, I like to meet for a personal consultation with my clients (if not possible, we can do this over the phone). It gives them a chance to connect and get to know me a little bit better, as well as to dig into the details of what they are expecting from their session. We discuss styling and outfits and I’ll try to dissolve any other doubts they might have. Most of the photoshoots take place in my Bristol studio, but there is also an option to have your boudoir shoot at an external location (like your home, a boutique hotel or outdoors if you’re feeling adventurous!)

The session itself starts with the makeup and hair styling. Some people find this a little unnerving – they might not be used to wearing makeup every day, or they have their very set ways of wearing it and are worried that they wouldn’t look like themselves… Worry not. My make-up artists are professional and are happy to adapt to whatever you are looking for. The make-up is part of the session because of the experience and pampering, but it can be as natural and barely there as you’d like it to be.

You do not need to know how to pose or worry about how you’re going to look like on your images at all! I am an expert at making people relax and open up in front of the camera also to guide you with posing down to your fingertips to make sure you look your best. I’ll show you what poses and angles flatter you the most and be your coach every step of the way. No experience necessary, you just need to trust me to give it a go.

Professional retouching on all your best images is included with your session. I don’t believe in drastically altering your appearance or body type, I believe all my customers are perfectly beautiful just the way they are. I do believe in small tweaks however, to get rid of the things you are not fond of and/or correcting the bits (lumps and bumps) that appear due to wardrobe or posing. This is a collaborative process, so please don’t be shy about telling me to get rid of a certain mole or scar or stretchmark.

portrait photo for valentines day

About two weeks after your photo session we meet up again for a private viewing and selection of your final images. After the initial presentation, we’ll step through the images one by one and start picking favourites. Following that, we’ll determine which products and packages will suit you best based on the images we’ve created, your goals for the shoot, and on your lifestyle. I offer a range of beautiful photographic albums, archival wall art, high resolution digital image packages, and more. I also have great options for gift giving, whether you’re buying for a groom or bride, a significant other, or as a treat to yourself.

I love the idea of having a professional photo session, but I’m not that confident about myself?

Most women who become my customers start our conversation with – ‘I’m very self conscious’ or ‘I’m not very photogenic’ or ‘I hate having my photos taken’. It’s completely normal (to be honest, I’m not a big fan of being photographed either). But the good news is – it’s not your job to be photogenic, or to be confident and know what to do in front of the camera. It’s MY job to make you feel relaxed and comfortable and safe… once we have that, confidence is not even an issue at all.

valentines gift ideas bristol

How long does the session last for? What sort of outfits and how many could I bring? And what if you don’t get any good photos in time?

The sessions usually last about 3 hours (1 hour for the makeup and hair styling, 2 hours shooting time), but I don’t limit the sessions by either time or the number of outfits. Everyone is different, some people need a little more time to warm up and relax, so if I don’t feel that we have enough killer images, I’ll keep going until we get what we need. I usually suggest bringing 5-6 outfits to the session and I also have some nice dresses and accessories in my studio wardrobe too, which is available to use for my customers.

Finally – what advice can you give to anyone who’s always thought of having a photo shoot but has always been a bit, shy, shall we say?

We, as women all have the same (or at least very similar) self-doubts and insecurities, and you can trust me, I know them all. I want you to feel absolutely incredible and to fall in love with yourself after seeing how I see you through the lens. What I offer is a chance to see yourself in a completely new light, to allow yourself to be more beautiful, stronger and more confident.

original valentines day gift

You do not need to feel ‘more confident’ to do this! The confidence comes with the experience, so please, come as you are.

Some truly beautiful photographs from just a selection of Viktoria’s portfolio, (as well as some amazing tattoo work as well!). You can see she is as good as she professes to be in so much that she will make you feel relaxed as well as confident to create some beautiful images. A fantastic gift for Valentine’s Day with a real personal touch with love!

VW Campervan Hire for Weddings

vw campervan hire wedding

We’re real fans of VW’s in our household, so this post was an absolute must when I stumbled upon them on Facebook one night! VW Campers are becoming ever more popular among enthusiasts and are starting to make their stamp on many a wedding day as well. Buttercup Bus have even started using them as the ultimate mobile photobooth! We’ve been to quite a few receptions and photobooths go down really well with guests, especially with a few prosecco’s on board! So here’s what Nathalie from Buttercup Bus had to tell us;

Q: You have quite a few VW’s available as wedding cars. How long have you been involved with the wedding industry and what inspired you to become involved?

It all started out about 10 years ago, when we were expecting our first child. My car at the time was a tiny Smart Car, so my Husband advised me to sell it and purchase something more practical for our new family. His jaw hit the floor, when I came back with my first campervan, Pushka. Whilst it was not what he had in mind, I told him that with her cream paintwork and good looks, we could do the odd wedding hire, here and there to fund keeping her running nicely. The campervan turned out to be far more popular than I anticipated, and I really enjoyed doing the weddings – so we saved and purchased additional campervans and set up as a business.

Q: What tips and advice can you give to couples when looking to hire their wedding transport?

Check with the supplier for recent photos of the vehicle – do they personally own all the vehicles, or are they owner by third parties? (We own all our vehicles!) Also, check their social media profiles for real photos of them in action. Ask how the vehicle will be decorated – for example, does it come with any flowers, bunting, soft furnishings and can you choose the ribbon colours to match your theme?

Q: How long in advance would you recommend couples book their wedding car? What about insurances?

Always go with a proper wedding transport company that have the specialist wedding transport vehicle and public liability insurance in place. Most of our wedding couples book their campervans between 12 to 18 months in advance of their wedding so that they get the vehicle colour of their choice.

VW Beetle for Wedding Hire

Q:There is quite a bit of competition when it comes to wedding car hire. What can couples expect when the book their VW beetle wedding car or camper van with you?

Having 10 years experience, we know how to plan timings and routes with the correct contingencies in place. We also have multiple campervans and drivers in place as back up. We are familiar with many of the venues in our area of coverage, so understand how to best position the campervan for post ceremony photos. Our wedding transport business is a passion as well as a business, and we enjoy taking the time to clean and decorate the campers with little details to make the day extra special. We have pretty umbrellas, can offer personalised bunting and have bespoke flower garlands made specially to decorate our campervans.

Q: Which is YOUR most favourite wedding car/ van that you offer and why?

Ha ha – I am the campervans’ Mum. I talk to them, and tuck them up at night in their special blankets. I could not possibly choose a favourite, or the others would get upset with me!

Q: What is your biggest achievement to date? (It doesn’t have to be wedding related).

Alongside our wedding car services, we also offer campervan photobooth hire. This year we invested in upgrading our technology to include greenscreen. These photosbooths have enabled our campervans to be enjoyed at a much wider range of events to include private parties, corporate hospitality and promotional events. It led to us winning awards, to include “Most Innovative Photo Booth Hire Company” and “Best Media and Creative Business” in the last couple of years.

Wedding Planner or Not? That is the Question.

Happy New Year to one and all! All the festivities are over and the Christmas decorations are down, normal life can resume once again! It’s quite apt that we kick off the New Year on our wedding blog on the topic of wedding planning. I spend a lot of time on Facebook groups and soon, and a question that I see getting asked quite a lot is; “Is it really worth getting a wedding planner?”

On a personal note, we didn’t have a wedding planner, in hindsight, I wished we had to be honest. We didn’t realise how much we were both consumed by the whole planning and preparation of our own wedding until it was over, it was almost insidious. So today I have the pleasure of introducing a lovely lady we had the fortune to meet at The Bristol & Somerset Wedding Awards, Haley of Forever and Always.

Q: Tell us a little bit about Forever and Always. How did it start and how long you’ve been going for?

A: Forever and Always was created after I fell in love with planning my own wedding nearly 6 years ago. After training as a wedding planner for nearly a year, Forever and Always was born and has been trading around 3 years now.

Q: What would you say is the biggest advantages of hiring a wedding planner?

A: The biggest advantage of the hiring a wedding planner is having someone there on hand to guide and support you through the planning of your big day! It’s nice to be able to lean on someone other than a friend or family member!

Q: Some Brides think that a having a Wedding Planner is expensive. Is this the case?

A: That really is not the case at all, and that is the first thing I always let couples know. I believe having a wedding planner should be very much built in to any wedding plan or budget. I tailor my services to each couple and happy to offer payment plans. Also in the long time I believe I can save my couples money as I work with recommended suppliers who often offer discounts and I can then pass this on to my couples.

Q: What can Brides expect when they come to Forever and Always to help with their plans?

A: They can expect a personalised service, with attention to detail. Above all a professional service and someone that is caring and has that best interests at heart.

Q: What advice do you have for Brides for their planning journey &/or their wedding day?

A: The best advice a can offer any bride or couple when planning their wedding day is don’t stress enjoy every minute of the planning, it’s not meant to be a chore it’s meant to be fun. My number one tip I always say to my couples is once a decision has been made, tick it of the list and move on to the next thing! Don’t dwell on decisions that have already been made.

Q: What’s been your biggest achievement to date? (Doesn’t have to be wedding related).

A: I have two biggest achievements to date one is my wonderful family I have, and I’m lucky to have such a supportive and caring husband and two gorgeous daughters.

My other achievement is winner “Wedding Planner” of the year 2017 for Bristol & Somerset. I was very proud and honoured I to collect this award back in February, this award shows the love and thanks from every couple I worked with last year.

Q: What does the future hold for Forever and Always?

A: I have a few things in the pipeline that I hope to be able to share soon, but my plan is to hopefully grow the business and continue to offer a top service to all my clients.

So if you’re still undecided whether to involve a wedding planner in your wedding preparations and wedding day, then, at the very least get in touch with Haley at Forever & Always. She won an award for a reason and we wish her all the very best at the 2018 Bristol & Somerset Wedding Awards!

Royce Lingerie Specialist.

October is such a special month,  we all join together to help raise money to beat cancer!

I thought I would take this opportunity to write a short blog post about our non wired, mastectomy bras supplier, Royce Lingerie who will be donating £1 from every bra  they sell throughout the whole of October.

Royce are world leaders when it comes to non wired bras. They have been specialising and producing wire free since the early 90s. Royce have designed a truly outstanding mastectomy bra that is innovative in style, superbly comfortable and containing X-Static silver fibre to aid the healing process.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners Jane Fleming, when I attended their in house advance training program and factory tour.

This was such a wonderful experience, being able to meet, measure and fit some truly remarkable ladies who had undergone mastectomy surgery (single or double!).

The ladies told us of there experiences and later allowed us to measure and fit them in lingerie from the amazing range that Royce offer.

Royce are very dedicated to what the do and helping ladies who require non wired bras in all areas, not just mastectomy. They have utilized the technologies and designers they have to create a teen bra collection which feature sizes 28AA- 36D, a beautiful non wired collection in a full range of sizes and a maternity collection which range up to a 40K!
